We’ve been busy in maths comparing numbers and practically problem solving.

In English we’ve been practising our phonics skills, playing games and word building and we have sequenced events from our core text ‘Let the Children March.’

    The rain poured during our PE session this afternoon but the children showed their resilience and determination, moved all the tables around and got active with their yoga session in the classroom. It was great fun – well done class five!

    We started our morning with some clues as to who our next champion was going to be – can you guess?

    We worked together to ‘popcorn’ our suggestions – we discovered we were going to be learning about Captain Sir Tom Moore.

    We began with some group reading to see what we could find out about him. We then used the ChromeBooks to research further and add all of our findings to our graffiti wall.

    Class 5 took part in a zoom call today with Mayowa Precious Agbabiaka, who is helping children learn more about Black History Month. She has written a book called ‘There’s rice at home’ and read it aloud to the children. She told us that she has written the book in 13 languages. We really enjoyed trying to say hello in all the different languages – I wonder how many different ways you can say hello?

    • I’m strong enough to open it…
    • It’s heavy…
    • Nearly inside both now!
    • Yes we did it! Look at all of the seeds!
    • It’s yucky … but I want another go!
    • I’m not sure whether I like it … but I love investigating!
    • Seeds… there are LOADS!
    • This one is slimy…
    • Wow! Can I have a turn?
    • It’s heavy … and it smells funny!
    • I am sooooo strong!
    • No seeds left in this bit!
    • It smells funny … and it feels a bit funny too!

    • Can I play here all day – I love investigating pumpkins!
    • Digging deep to pull out the stringy bits!
    • I emptied it!
    Class 1 and Class 2 have enjoyed investigating pumpkins in the outdoor area this morning… What a fantastic start to the week… slimy, gooey, hard but smooth, sticky, stringy pumpkins! I wonder where our learning will go?

    We loved joining in this morning with the #Take10ToRead challenge. Firstly we listened to Tom Percival share an extract from his new book, he then showed the children how to show emotions in their drawings. Finally we all took ten minutes to enjoy a book! What a great morning!
