Human Rights

We spent our Mindful Monday crew thinking about human rights. We had a chat about the difference between wanting something and needing it. We discussed what our rights are as a human and we learned that in some parts of the world people are not living with access to their basic human rights. We are eager to spend some time in crew thinking about how we can make a difference to these people.

Thoughtful Thursday

In class crew this morning we have been thinking about our next student led conferences. We thought about the things that we would want to share with our grown ups when we next invite them into school.

We are looking forward to planning our student led conferences over the next few weeks and for the opportunity to share the beautiful work we are proud of.

We are scientists!

We have been investigating materials to find out which one would be best to build a castle. In crew we worked together to build castles out of paper, fabric, plastic and wood. We then tested them against wind and water.

We wrote letters to the knights to let them know the results of our investigations so that they could build the most secure castles to keep them safe from the big, bad dragon!

Team work makes the dream work . . .

This morning we had an awesome crew session! We challenged ourselves to build the biggest tower we could – it was tricky.

Next, Mrs Parsons challenged us to work as a crew to build a line that stretched from class five all the way to Mrs Smith’s office! We had to communicate and really work hard together. Eventually we made it!

Crew Parsons really can do anything!

Concentrating Crocodiles in Class 6

In reading this week we’ve been challenging ourselves and our partners to develop our fluency by seeing who can read more words in 1 minute!

We’ve also enjoyed using SumDog on the iPads to consolidate our maths learning.

A book look with a difference . . .

Miss Tunney and I have had the most lovely day! We wanted to see and hear about all the amazing learning going on across our campus, so rather than sit in our office flicking through work, we invited the owners of the exercise books to share their work instead.

We have had children in our early years reciting We’re Going on a Bear Hunt with actions, students in key stage one sharing some fantastic knowledge about castles and how their expert visitor helped them towards answering their guiding question, lower key stage two being so enthusiastic about their core text, The Lion and the Unicorn and finally year five and six explaining how clear and specific critique has helped them to improve their work into versions they are incredibly proud of.

To all of those children who shared their learning with us, thank you. It was a real privilege to hear about your learning so far this year. You all spoke confidently and showed real enthusiasm for your expeditions and the beautiful work you are producing.

Football Festival Champions

Our determined team of year 2s set off to Campsmount this afternoon for the football festival. We are so proud of them, not only did they behave impeccably, but they acted with great sportsmanship.

They also won every game they played and returned to school champions with a beautiful new trophy and their medals!

A huge thank you to Mrs Wojcik and Mrs Thurman for accompanying them. (and cheering very loudly! 📣)

You are all great ambassadors for Crew Norton.

Tranquil Tuesday

We’re starting our day sharing a book with our reading buddies in crew this morning.
