A book look with a difference . . .

Miss Tunney and I have had the most lovely day! We wanted to see and hear about all the amazing learning going on across our campus, so rather than sit in our office flicking through work, we invited the owners of the exercise books to share their work instead.

We have had children in our early years reciting We’re Going on a Bear Hunt with actions, students in key stage one sharing some fantastic knowledge about castles and how their expert visitor helped them towards answering their guiding question, lower key stage two being so enthusiastic about their core text, The Lion and the Unicorn and finally year five and six explaining how clear and specific critique has helped them to improve their work into versions they are incredibly proud of.

To all of those children who shared their learning with us, thank you. It was a real privilege to hear about your learning so far this year. You all spoke confidently and showed real enthusiasm for your expeditions and the beautiful work you are producing.

Final Word 2022

I just wanted to say a massive congratulations to all of the children who have completed their Final Words this week. You presented with confidence and clarity, and spoke with honesty from the heart.

Thank you to all of the families who came and supported the children with their presentations. It was a massive privilege to be apart of them, I know the other staff who sat in on the presentations are just as proud of the children as I am.

I apologise as I was so engrossed listening that I forgot to take many pictures – here are the few that I did take!

Congratulations again year two – you’re all absolute superstars. ⭐️

(Grown Ups – if you could spare a couple of minutes to give us some feedback – it would be greatly appreciated. https://forms.gle/McWt1aZHJPx8mLD2A )

Diversity Day

Today, we have spent the day in mixed crews learning all about diversity. It has been lovely to spend the day with different children from year one and two and see them all learning together. Keep checking our blogs for photos from the other activities the children took part in

For this task we used the book My World, Your World by Melanie Walsh to create our own version all about our community. We learnt about what makes us unique and what things connect us. It was a really fun key stage one project. We hope you enjoy! 🌎👏🏻

Year Two Mathematicians!

I am so proud of this group of mathematicians this afternoon – not only did they complete their work to a gold standard but they smashed their ME and achieved green standard by completing some really tricky two step word problems! Well done guys – what a great start to the week!

Historical Writers

Wow! The children in class five have absolutely blown me away today. They have used all their learning about coal mines to write a recount from the perspective of a child working in the mine. I was really impressed with how the children shared their writing and offered critique.

Truly incredible work – I can’t wait to share the finished pieces with you all.

Student Led Conferences

Today we held our first ever Student Led Conferences – the children did a fantastic job sharing their learning and beautiful work, speaking about what they are proud of and what they need to work on to get even better.

It was brilliant to see the children articulating their learning so well with the help of their teachers.

Great job everyone!
