I was super impressed with everyone in class 5 this morning. We completed a picture puzzle protocol where we had to collaborate and use our communication skills to talk about all of the different pieces of the puzzle in turn and see if we could work out what the mystery image was.
We discovered it was the front cover of our new text – Man on the Moon.
We are looking forward to finding out what it is all about and seeing if our predictions are correct!
Awesome job class 5 xxx

It’s Tranquil Tuesday today and we spent our time in crew doing some yoga. We used a Cosmic Yoga video with Jaime on Earth and Samantha Cristoforetti on the International Space Station! It was a relaxing way to start the day and get us all in the green zone!
Crew Parsons’ wanted the link to do it again at home, so here it is!
Great job today Crew Parsons xx

We are getting ourself back into our latest case study by thinking about what aliens could look like. We started off with lots of alien images and we had to find partners in our classroom to describe the alien to – we discovered we were needing to use lots of adjectives!

After that we designed our own aliens using our favourite features from the ones we had been describing. Next, we did a gallery walk where we added lots of vocabulary around the aliens to help our friends with their writing description later.

Crew and writing rolled into one! What a great start to our new half term.
Well done class 5, Mrs Parsons xx
We started our crew circle with a funny check in this morning – how are you feeling?

Then we took our crew circle outside for a walk in the sunshine whilst we shared our news from over half term. When we circled back up we shared something we had found out from someone else in our crew – we even had a squirrel want to join our crew!!
What a lovely way to start the week!

We have had a really fun week walking to school and completing our daily mile challenge. Well done everybody for your incredible effort. We have earned some lovely stickers, biscuits and juice. Freya has received a special certificate for walking to school every day all the way from Askern. Well done Freya.

We all enjoyed a walk in the sunshine this morning over at the junior school.

It is definitely a happy Friday in our class today! 😁

The Second World War may feel like several lifetimes ago to some of us, but there are still thousands of people for whom it was a lived experience, something they will never forget.
Years 3 and 4 in all the Primary Schools across our Trust, have through their recent expedition Lest we Forget: How does war change Lives? examined the lives of local people and national figures – all of whom have stories that deserve to be shared.

Four beautiful books have been created, capturing times both traumatic and remarkable.
From Pat Grainger, who lives in the centre of Doncaster and remembers the Corn Exchange cellars being used as an air raid shelter, or Harry Hewitt who as a child helped the war effort by being a runner – delivering messages between the Home Guards.
The research for these books has been thorough, the original poetry and illustrations adding so much to the work that has become a valuable and treasured resource of stories from a time past, but part of our history and community.Â
My notes from today’s visit to @XPschool , with thanks to all of our hosts for such a warm and considered xperience, incl @gwynap @JamiePortman @SprakesA -will take some time over the weekend to reflect upon these 👇🏽 & consider the implications #learning #unlearning #compassion pic.twitter.com/9eT4BBZRai

Another lovely celebration crew this morning. I was so impressed with the children who achieved awards this week for lots of different things – following HoWLs, being kind and lots of amazing phonics work going on!Â

We also loved hearing what each class had been learning this week – thank you Barney D, Tayla G, Eric C, Ava W, Willow C and Myla A for sharing your learning so confidently.Â
I wonder who we will be celebrating next term?

Nursery were visited on Wednesday 24th May by an expert visitor, Holly, from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity. Holly talked to the children about the role of the Air Ambulance and it’s Crew, whilst telling us interesting facts such as; it travels at 160mph, the helicopter costs £19,000 per day to run, there are two of them across the region and patients are treated on board just like a regular ambulance.
Nursery created their own air ambulance land art today, (after modelling and the use of a photo as a stimulus) using large loose parts in the outdoor area. They worked as a team to decide which materials to choose and which materials were most suitable in terms of shape, colour and size.

I think you’ll all agree the children have created some amazing land art in the shape and tones of the Air Ambulance. Such beautiful work! They have also learned key words such as Landing Skids, Propellers, Rotors and Ambulance body.
