What better way to spend our tranquil Tuesday crew session than outside around our fire pit, sharing a story and a hot chocolate.
Mrs Thurman and Mrs Jackson x

Crew Thurman had a great first morning back getting outdoors and creating some beautiful artwork.

Crew Goodyer have enjoyed the outdoors this week creating some beautiful Autumn leaf collages with Mrs Jackson.

This week Crew Gate have been embracing XP Outdoors in our crew sessions. We made leaf collages yesterday and undertook a nature walk today. It has been fabulous to get t

Wow – what day! We started our day having a walk around the grounds at Cusworth Hall. The children took some great notes using their note catchers to use when we get back to class. We ran and rolled down the hill too – it almost tired us out! We spent some time at the top of the hill seeing which Doncaster landmarks we could spot – we found Doncaster Minister and the Hospital too. Next was the coach trip across to the Eco Power Stadium – more Doncaster landmark spotting – we found things like the Frenchgate, a mosque, gurdwara, Doncaster Train Station and we were very excited to see XP and XP East too! When we arrived at the stadium we had lunch overlooking the pitch followed by a stadium tour and a PE lesson. We were very excited to meet a VIP too – Donny Dog ❤️
We had an absolutely fantastic day – it was great to hear the children share lots of knowledge about Doncaster that they have been learning over the course of our expedition.
Well done Class Five

Sometimes we just need to play together in the sunshine ☀️

This morning some children in reception wanted to make a fairy garden. They drew some beautiful pictures for the fairies and wrote their own signs. Let’s hope the fairies visit soon…

This week Nursery have been reading “We’re Going On an Egg Hunt” by Laura Hughes. In the story the bunnies find 10 eggs and some problematic characters along their hunt. Nursery role played the story as part of their maths work this week, as they have been exploring how to describe a familiar route.

The children used the repeated story language from the text to describe how they moved around their route and through the springtime characters. When we arrived back at Nursery, closing out the “Big, Bad Wolf”, the children attempted to simply explain their route around the outdoor area, using familiar landmarks as markers of their journey. We drew large scale maps to help consolidate their understanding. The children used words such as “behind”, “inside”, “past”, “next to” and “through”.

On Monday we created artwork inspired by the story The Leaf Man written by Lois Ehlert. The children used natural resources found in our outdoor area to create the own leaf men, creatures or animals. Look at their beautiful work!
