Early Years Engineers

We have been busy in our Reception classes building, creating and making:

Fact finding

This week in Class 3 we have been exploring features of non-chronological reports in our shared reading lessons. We have also demonstrated great decoding skills and found out so many interesting facts about polar bears.

Fantastic Food Chains

Today in class 6 we were learning about food chains. The children worked in collaborative groups to sort pictures to make food chains. It was lovely to see them all engaged in their learning.

Making predictions

As part of our new expedition we set up an experiment to see how different objects react to being submerged in water. We added tissues, a swim nappy, a plastic toy and a packet of crisp to bowls of water and will keep observing them over the next few weeks!

Making Jellyfish

As part of our immersion we all made Jellyfish. The children were preserving parrots and concentrating crocodiles as some found the threading quite challenging.

Classification Keys

We have been grappling with classification keys as part of our science case study. We have been hard working and resilient – we even managed to write some of our own!

Collaborative Research

We have been researching a range of different under the sea creatures this morning. We were we working collaboratively to create some anchor charts to help us with our non-chronological reports.
