We love reading and sharing stories with our friends. Every morning we take turns to read a book in front of our class. We are very kind and we praise children for trying their best, supporting each other and reading with enthusiasm. We love our class reading crew!

This week in reception we have been reading ‘Whatever Next’. In the story Baby Bear makes a rocket and takes off to the moon. In our crews we decided to build our own rockets using various materials. The children demonstrated great team work skills and had some amazing ideas…

They worked so hard we decided to reward their efforts with a biscuit in the sunshine 🌞 Great work reception 👏 👍 😀

What a lovely start to the day….a visit to our library and then reading our books outside.

This week in our expedition we have been exploring transport that works in water. We read nonfiction books that provided more information about different types of boats and how these have changed over time.
The children then used their creative design skills to make boats out of bottle tops and other materials. The challenge was to make their boat float and investigate how to make it move across the water. There was brilliant collaboration between the children and many exciting boat races taking place!

Class one have been on a gallery walk today. We looked at pictures of different types of water transport and wrote down all the things we noticed. The children blew me away with what they wrote down and the knowledge they had! 😊

Dear Parents/carers,
During the next few weeks, our Year 2 children are preparing for their ‘Final Word’ presentation. This is a reflection on their Infant school years whereby they reflect on their character growth, academic success and the beautiful work that they have produced during their time at Norton Infant School. This is also a time to use their reflections to share why they are ready to take on their new challenge at Norton Junior School. This is something the children will be spending a lot of time on supported by their class teacher.
During their presentations, we would like to invite you to attend their Final Word along with their class teacher and possibly other members of staff too. Please fill out the form below by Friday 16th June so that staff can align times and dates for the year 2 pupils presentations.
Thank you for supporting the children with this important part of their time in year two.
Mrs Parsons xx
I asked my crew this morning what did they think was the most important thing they had learned so far at our school. I shared the biggest thing I had learned was that I learn new and amazing things every day from my class, crew and people I work with but their responses just blew me away …

We enjoyed learning about floating and sinking in our crew session today. The children made sensible predictions and recorded their findings. Great job, 👏 Mrs Chadwick xx
