I’ve been so impressed this morning with children showing their Maths courage and modelling our subtraction methods to the whole class. Lots of respectful agreeing and disagreeing to make sure we all arrived at the correct answer.

As our expedition on “Be Kind – How can we show we care?” Draws to a close, Nursery have been thinking about how having a friend makes us feel? And what makes a good friend?
Here are there thoughts and ideas from our Crew sessions today….
Our expedition has really helped the children to understand kindness and given them a good start to showing kindness towards others. Well Done Nursery, Beautiful Work!
We have been looking for craftsmanship and quality in Maths today – Class 5 did not disappoint! The effort and concentration the children put into completing some subtraction problems using number lines was fantastic to see. We quickly discovered that for our strategy to work we needed to really think about our presentation and create some beautiful Maths.

The children came into school today full of excitement. We began the day by drawing our very own snowman. Here are some of our beautiful drawings…
The children were eager to get outside in the snow. We had a magical time outside and there were smiles all around! We are all hoping for more snow very soon 🙂
I was blown away in Maths – lots of us found it tricky but by working together we got there in the end! We even had some people feeling so confident they modelled their methods to the whole class!

Yesterday we were thinking about what our character trait of compassion looks like, feels like and sounds like in our classroom. Look at all this people we spotted showing compassion in our room!
We had great fun making our catapults last week during our family learning. This week we have been writing our science investigation ready to test them …
To finish off our time doing XP Outdoors this half term, Crew Gate and Crew Tinker gathered around the campfire and enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate. While drinking our hot chocolates we worked together to tell our very own story… All about a treasure hunting piarate in the desert.
Last week we celebrated World Kindness day on Wednesday 13th November as part of our continuing expedition “Be Kind – How do we show we care?”
During our current and final case study “Where do we live in the world?” The children have began to explore differences between them and their home to that of others around the world, through our key text “My World, Your World” by Melanie Walsh. We have examined key vocabulary which helped us to understand some of our differences, such as “Sari”, “Snowboots”, “Chopsticks” and “Flats”.
Nursery practised thinking about differences between each other, staff and toys to help them understand what a difference is. We then celebrated these differences by making Kindness Wands, using breadsticks, icing and sprinkles to spread kindness everywhere.
At the end of the week the children were thinking about Children in Need and how the cause helps to bring happiness to children that are less fortunate or sick. We made a huge Pudsey Bear collage out of coloured papers, working collaboratively .
Well done to all of our amazing HoWLs stars of the week. It was lovely to hear how you are all being kind, working hard and getting smart. You are all amazing role models – keep up the super work!
