Well done year two! Lovely to be able to start handing out TT Rockstar certificates – I wonder how many we will give out next week?

Exploring materials
Class 4 had have a very exciting week investigating, testing and finding out about the properties of materials. We have made an experiment to learn about waterproof and absorbent materials. It was very engaging and interesting activity to do. We had lots of fun experimenting with water!!!
We had a great afternoon making some alien soup. We used the recipe that Gugu the alien left for us. Then we discovered the recipe was all wrong…oh no! Luckily we had expert scientists at hand that could take out the materials that didn’t belong there!
- What did the magnet lift out?
- Get mixing 🙂
- Add the wool 🙂
We left the soup out for Gugu and he licked the bowl clean! Great work class 6 🙂
Our core text this half term is Beegu by Alexis Deacon. We have worked hard and had fun predicting what the story might be about and describing Beegu the main character.
- Maisie’s prediction
- Super group work, everyone is focussed and working hard!
- Rowan’s prediction
We have used our creative skills to collage Beegu, used construction to make her some new alien friends and made her some space buggies for when she goes back to her own planet.
We spent some time this morning reading with our partner. We read a non-fiction text about space and then recorded the interesting facts we found out.
That’s not my rocket …
As part of our science case study we decided to read some ‘That’s not my …’ books and think carefully about the materials and the properties. We ended up making our own book called That’s Not My Rocket!
This week we have been busy working on our writing sentences, finding different ways to represent numbers and developing our creative skills when making collage in Art.
