If we get crew right, we get everything right.

We thought about our zones of regulation. And decided which of the different emotions belong in each zone.
Next we took part in a crew treasure hunt to find all the letters hidden around school. We then had to work together to unscramble the letters to make some very important words – be kind, work hard and get smart.
In the afternoon, we had a jigsaw of Supertato. We had to work together to put the puzzle back together and then draw the best picture of him we could as a crew – it was really tricky!

First day in Class Five

We have just finished our first day in class five, and what a day it was!

We started the day getting to know our new crews – why not ask your child which crew they are in? ( Crew Parsons, Crew Robson, Crew Thurman, Crew Wilkinson or Crew Moloney?)

Next we had a think about what we want our classroom to feel like, look like and sound like. We came up with some fantastic suggestions to make our classroom an amazing place to learn.

Followed by working in pairs on a word search with lots of important vocabulary linked to school.

We worked together in our crews and took part in a quiz, everyone did brilliantly! Crew Parsons won and took the first point in our crew competition (yay!)

In the afternoon we spent some time reading.

And we finished the day by working together to create a time capsule to open before we leave year two. We included cut outs of our hands, string to show how tall we are and a fact file about our likes and dislikes now. I wonder how much we will all grow and change over the year?

If we can achieve all that in day one, I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds!

Case Study 2: Music

In Class 3 we have been using the chrome books to research our chosen instruments.

We have also been studying instruments and making sketches to accompany our fact files.

In maths this week we have been recapping telling the time and having fun playing games using our number bonds to 10 and 20.

This week we have been lucky to have visits from experts:

The inspirational Ray Matthews came to talk to us about his amazing achievements in running. He also launched his 80 – 80 – 80 challenge and we are looking forward to our sponsored walk next week to raise money for his charities.

We also had a visit from three wonderful volunteers at the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. We asked lots of questions and found out all about the important work that they do. We are going to have a ‘bring your bike’ to school day later in the term to raise as much money as we can to support the invaluable work that everyone at the Yorkshire Air Ambulance do.

We have also been Creative Chameleons in Class 1 this week:

  • Rudy built a Rocket.
  • Crew Elmer prepared questions for the Air Ambulance.
  • The girls made a ‘clubhouse’
  • Myla made NumberBlocks and wrote labels for each one.

Healthy living
