Digital Leaders

Notice for all students in Year 2

Students in Year 2 have an amazing opportunity to become a Digital Leader within our XP schools.

This is a fantastic opportunity for children to develop their own individual skills when it comes to the latest technology. Children who are successful will get the opportunity to visit XP East and potentially the Apple Store to have further training on how to use technology including iPads, MacBooks and some of the other great technology that is used throughout schools. Our Digital Leaders will then become the experts who can then pass on their knowledge to our staff and students.

Below is a link to the Digital Leaders website where you can find out further information.

Applications will need to be sent to Mrs Parsons by Thursday 3rd February explaining why you would make a fantastic Digital Leader. This can be done in a format of your choice including a letter, slides or even a video showcasing your IT skills.

I can’t wait to see your applications!

More engineering in the early years:

Classifying Animals

This week we have been learning about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. We worked collaboratively to group animals before writing about them.

I wonder if you can remember what sort of teeth each group have?

This week in Class 4

We have been very busy this week exploring 2d and 3d shapes, making patterns and sorting shapes. We have been working with our partners and supporting one another when learning about the features of non-chronological reports, reading texts and discussing them.

Early Years Engineers

We have been busy in our Reception classes building, creating and making:

Fact finding

This week in Class 3 we have been exploring features of non-chronological reports in our shared reading lessons. We have also demonstrated great decoding skills and found out so many interesting facts about polar bears.

Fantastic Food Chains

Today in class 6 we were learning about food chains. The children worked in collaborative groups to sort pictures to make food chains. It was lovely to see them all engaged in their learning.

Making predictions

As part of our new expedition we set up an experiment to see how different objects react to being submerged in water. We added tissues, a swim nappy, a plastic toy and a packet of crisp to bowls of water and will keep observing them over the next few weeks!

Making Jellyfish

As part of our immersion we all made Jellyfish. The children were preserving parrots and concentrating crocodiles as some found the threading quite challenging.
