Musician of the Week

As I’m sure the children have told you – as part of this expedition, one of our ongoing case studies is going to be Music. To help us ensure the children are exposed to a wide range of musicians and genres, both past and present, we are going to be having a musician of the week.

We will be listening to music from the artist/s each morning as the children enter the classroom and we will be learning more about the artist as the week goes on.

Each week we will add a playlist to our website and ClassDojo pages, this will enable you to share in the Musician of the Week and listen along at home too!

We had a great time this morning dancing around the classroom to our first musician/s – Abba!

Enjoy,

Mrs Parsons xxx

Collaborating over ColourBrain!

This morning in crew after we had shared our roses and thorns from over the break and we recapped what collaboration is. Next we used those skills to play ColourBrain – we decided the key to collaboration was to communicate!

FAO Year Two Parents

On January 12th 2023, we will be holding two sessions for year 2 parents. During these sessions we will be sharing with you expectations around year two, what that looks like for you and your child, how we assess in year two and what adjustments can be made to support your child. There will also be time to speak to the year two staff and ask any questions you might have. Please can we ask that siblings and other children don’t attend these sessions.

If you could return this GoogleForm before 2nd December to enable us to plan and resource the sessions.

Any queries please let me know, Mrs Parsons xx

Human Rights

We spent our Mindful Monday crew thinking about human rights. We had a chat about the difference between wanting something and needing it. We discussed what our rights are as a human and we learned that in some parts of the world people are not living with access to their basic human rights. We are eager to spend some time in crew thinking about how we can make a difference to these people.

Thoughtful Thursday

In class crew this morning we have been thinking about our next student led conferences. We thought about the things that we would want to share with our grown ups when we next invite them into school.

We are looking forward to planning our student led conferences over the next few weeks and for the opportunity to share the beautiful work we are proud of.

We are scientists!

We have been investigating materials to find out which one would be best to build a castle. In crew we worked together to build castles out of paper, fabric, plastic and wood. We then tested them against wind and water.

We wrote letters to the knights to let them know the results of our investigations so that they could build the most secure castles to keep them safe from the big, bad dragon!

Team work makes the dream work . . .

This morning we had an awesome crew session! We challenged ourselves to build the biggest tower we could – it was tricky.

Next, Mrs Parsons challenged us to work as a crew to build a line that stretched from class five all the way to Mrs Smith’s office! We had to communicate and really work hard together. Eventually we made it!

Crew Parsons really can do anything!

Concentrating Crocodiles in Class 6

In reading this week we’ve been challenging ourselves and our partners to develop our fluency by seeing who can read more words in 1 minute!

We’ve also enjoyed using SumDog on the iPads to consolidate our maths learning.
