Miss Tinker and I opened the door to some spooky sights this morning!!
Crew Champions
We have celebrated our crew champions in our Community Meeting today! It was lovely to hear crew leaders and children talk about each others howls and character traits.
Well done to all this week’s recipients.
Being heroes in our community
Today the KS1 children and families were extremely kind as they donated many items to be given to the Askern CRY Foodbank. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of our families and look forward to seeing our foodbank experts very soon to give them our donations.
Expert Visitors
We had a visit before our march from Mr West and Mr McLaughlin – from Askern CRY Food Bank and St. Peter’s Church to give us more information about the foodbank we are supporting and the difference we are going to make to our community.
KS1 Halloween Crew Challenge 🎃👻🕸
We started our morning with a crew challenge. Each crew had toilet roll and had to create the best mummy!
We had some brilliant collaboration and designs but in the end Crew Tinker won!

KS1 Community Meeting
We were really lucky this week that National Poetry Day was on the same day as our community meeting! In crew we have been sharing, writing and performing poetry in preparation for today. Instead of our usual ‘news from the crews’ we had our very own poetry jam. It was brilliant to hear the children performing the poetry they have been enjoying this week to all of the other crews.
Thank you for an awesome community meeting 😀

Flexible Friday in Crew Goodyer
Crew Goodyer enjoyed working together to get creative with our construction sets this morning.
KS1 expert visitor
Today we were very lucky to receive a visit from Mr West, our local Baptist Minister. He came to speak to us about harvest time and also to speak about the local heroes who work at the food bank in Askern. It made us think about all of the things that we are grateful and thankful for.
We had a great morning and thank Mr West for spending time with us.
Silent Conversation
This week we completed a silent conversation where we thought carefully about how we might have felt, what we would have heard and seen if we were about to take part in the march we have been reading about in our core text – Let the Children March.
