A model village . . .

We have been absolutely blown away with the extended study the children have been doing over their Easter break! The challenge was to make a model of some where in our local area – the results were incredible! What do you think?

Please keep this date in your diary…

Thursday 21st April (Year 2 -9.00-9.30)

Friday 22nd April (Year 1 – 9.00 – 9.30)

In our next expedition we are looking in detail at Norton and our local area, including the history of our school and community. We would like to invite family members to an informal coffee morning where you can have a drink and a bun while sharing your experiences of how Norton and our school  have  changed over the years. If you have experience of living in a contrasting area too then it would be great for the children to be able to compare. Even better, if you have old photographs to share then we would love to see them.

Thank you

Collaborative Planning

Class Five were working really hard yesterday gathering their ideas to write their own description of an underwater paradise based on our core text – The Tin Forest.

I can’t wait to read the finished pieces.

Story Circles, Drama and Sunshine 🌞

We decided to move our lesson outside this morning. We shared our new text ‘The Tin Forest’ and acted out the key parts of the story before then sequencing and retelling the story.

Great job class five – you worked really hard.

Resilient Readers 📚

Class Five have been grappling with some challenging texts to support with their expedition – How will what I do today impact the world tomorrow?

Great job Class Five – keep it up.

Fieldwork at The Deep 🦑🐋🐠🐟🦐

We had an amazing day at The Deep. The children conducted themselves impeccably and did our school proud. They impressed our teacher Rachel with their knowledge of the 5 oceans, continents and the impact of plastic on sea life.

Our Digital Leaders

Our brand new Digital Leaders had a fun-filled time at XP East today as we met up with other students from across our trust. We began the day with a brilliant tour of XP and XP East before working hard to understand the role of a digital leader, why digital leaders are important and the qualities a digital leader should have.

Miss Tinker and I were blown away by the children’s efforts and collaboration but also the courage they demonstrated to share their ideas in front of a huge audience of over 120 staff and students! A great day was had by all and the children will now share their learning with the leadership team at Norton. Thank you to Mr. Portman and XP for having us for the day…we had a great time!

Well done everyone – you were fantastic.

Year 2 are meteorologists!

Year 2 have worked extremely hard today to become meteorologists.
We started by looking at the seasons and how the weather changes in each season. The children then worked in collaborative groups to make their own weather forecast which they then rehearsed and recorded.
I’m sure you’ll agree that they have done a fantastic job! Mrs Chadwick and I were blown away by you all.

Proud Peacock . . .

Evie blew us away today in Class 5 – she has been busy over half term producing her very own book about sea creatures. I was so impressed with how she confidently shared her learning with the whole class – what a superstar ⭐️
