Class Five have been making me laugh at lunch time this week with their jokes! They decided they wanted to make everyone else smile too so here is a little video of some of our favourites to make you all smile.
Tomorrow, Friday 27th May 2022, will you please send your child(ren) into school with a picnic blanket/mat for them to sit on outside whilst they have their lunch weather permitting. If we can’t sit outside the children will have an indoor picnic in the school Hall. Please put your child’s name on the blanket if possible so that we know who they belong to at the end of the day! Fingers crossed for a dry day!
Also, don’t forget your child can come to school wearing red, white and blue tomorrow too! ❤️🤍💙
This week Year 1 visited the Doncaster Museum and Gallery to learn all about the history of Doncaster as part of our Summer term expedition ‘Diverse Doncaster: Where do we belong?’.
In the morning we took part in a workshop all about Doncaster through different time periods and we explored the museum and gallery in the afternoon.
Victorians, Tudors, Romans, Stone Age and Dinosaurs.
Practising our sketching skills with our observational drawings.
Today we held our first ever Student Led Conferences – the children did a fantastic job sharing their learning and beautiful work, speaking about what they are proud of and what they need to work on to get even better.
It was brilliant to see the children articulating their learning so well with the help of their teachers.
We’ve been busy exploring measures in Class 3, firstly comparing, ordering and measuring heights and lengths. Our challenge was to find two people the same height.
We then we moved on to weighing and enjoyed lots of practical maths lessons to get us ready for some challenging problem solving!
It was lovely to wander around our school this morning and see all of the fantastic things happening in our crew sessions – we had children reflecting on their howls, sharing stories and talking about their feelings using our zones of regulation. What a way to start the day!
We will be celebrating Better World Day on Thursday 5th May (a day early). We are asking children to come into school wearing something blue or yellow. We are asking for voluntary contributions of 50p to raise money to send funds directly into Ukraine to support those in need. We will be talking about Better World Day in crew this week too.
In crew this week we have been discussing the importance of keeping active and the effect it has on our well being. We thought about some of the activities we could do that would be fun, got moving on the playground and finally made pledges to take part in a range of fun and healthy activities this week.
We have also had great fun in P.E starting our new cheerleading unit and learning all the different shapes we will be able to put into our dances. Some of us are working extra hard to prepare for a competition at Campsmount later this term.
Yesterday we were very lucky to be visited by Geoff and his drone. He talked to the children about aerial photography and different ways we can take photos. We then went outside and watched Geoff fly his drone 120 meters up in the air! He took some amazing photos of school and the surrounding areas.
