Story Telling in Crew

The children enjoyed creating our very own stories in crew. We let our imaginations guide the way and came up with some exciting stories. Once our stories were finished, Crew Chadwick and Crew Inman shared stories with one another. It was a great way to start the day…

EYFS Community Meeting

Well done to all of our postcard winners today…..we had lots to share and celebrate!! We heard some lovely examples of children leading their own learning, being creative, doing teamwork and persevering with tasks. Another fabulous week in our Nursery and Reception classes.

EYFS Community Meeting

Here are our HoWLs stars of the week from Nursery and Reception. It was so lovely to hear how hard the youngest children in our school are working. We heard about some amazing acts of kindness and great examples of hard work and teamwork. Well done to all of our postcard winners today.

What would you say to the wolf?

This week the children have considered the mistakes that were made in the story of ‘The Little Red Riding Hood’. We thought carefully about what we would say to the wolf in the story. We took turns to be the wolf and the children came to the front to speak to the wolf. The children showed sensitivity, acceptance and kindness in their words.

The children have written down the kind words that they would say and have produced some fantastic sentences…

Well done Class 1 🙂

Once upon a time there was a girl called Little Red Riding Hood…

This week Class 1 have enjoyed listening to the ‘The Little Red Riding Hood’. We kick started our week by acting out the story in our story circle. The children put on some impressive character voices!

In crew, we played a listening game called. ‘In the basket I would put…’ The children had to think of something they would put in the basket to take to Grandma’s house. We then faced the challenge of having to remember what everyone had said. The children then drew all the things they could remember and some children even used their segmenting fingers to spell out words. They did a great job!

We have also created an anchor chart of words that described the Big Bad Wolf. The children wrote some super sentences…

Getting Smart in Class 1

This week in maths the children have been working together to order towers of cubes from 1 – 10 on a number track. They worked collaboratively and accurately placed the towers into a staircase pattern. What a great job!

The children have worked as teamwork tigers in our construction area and continue to make models on a larger scale that are very impressive. All the little extra details always make me smile. This house has solar panels, a lift and a garden for the dinosaurs!

We have been getting creative and have been adding some extra details to our under the sea paintings. The children are really brining their pictures to life…

When the children lead their own learning in the classroom, our areas are always so purposeful. Children choose to read stories, write labels for their models and even practice their number formation. They really are showing me that they are ready for Year One! Well done superstars!

Run run as fast as you can…

This week, we have been immersed in our new text, ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We have followed a recipe to make our very own gingerbread men. The children enjoyed decorating them with icing, chocolate chips and smarties. I think you will all agree that they look delicious! We are pleased to report that we had no runaway gingerbread men! Instead the children took them home and enjoyed a tasty treat 🙂

A super week of learning in EYFS

Wow……Nursery and Reception had so many postcard winners in our community meeting this week. Lots of kindness being shown by the youngest children in our school and some great examples of working hard and getting smart. Keep up the super work everyone.

Class 1’s Seascapes…

Last week, our story ‘The Little Mermaid’ took us under the sea. We decided to create some beautiful paintings of the sea. We used powder paints and took our time to mix different shades of blue. The children enjoyed completing this task and they worked conscientiously, taking their time, which resulted in work to be proud of!
