This morning in our expedition session we were thinking about the difference between the things we need to survive and this things we might want but don’t actually need to survive. I was very impressed with the mature and sensible conversations.
Well done class five xx
I just wanted to share this photograph I took on Friday and forgot to share. We have planted some beans in our window greenhouse – we have been carefully observing them over the past week to see how they are changing and growing. It’s lovely to see the children leading their own learning and checking in on our experiment over the day without any input from the grown ups.
The future of science is safe with this budding group of scientists.

We have started our first case study ‘How can I help my body to grow?’ We had some expert visitors in today that told us all about why we have teeth, how we can keep our teeth healthy and they also gave us some top brushing tips too 😁👍
Sending a big thank you to Kirsty and Ellie, a dentist and dental nurse for taking the time to come into our school. The children have loved it!
Today the children in EYFS were visited by Kirsty and Ellie, a dentist and dental nurse, who delivered a workshop on how to look after our teeth. We discussed why it’s important to brush our teeth for two minutes twice a day and played a game which prompted us to think carefully about which foods help to keep our teeth healthy. The children also loved getting a sticker at the end! 😀
This workshop has supported children in answering our expedition question ‘How do things grow and change?’. For the next two weeks we are continuing to explore how our bodies develop from birth and how we can make the best choices to help them grow. Today we learned that brushing our teeth is a great way to start!
We’re looking for Maths, Science, Art & Design and Humanities Teachers at XP Gateshead.
If that’s you, watch this video.
This is our community. These are our stories. Come teach and be a part of it.
This week we have gone for the famous composer, John Williams. We have picked five songs for our play list – but we think as you look at home you will find hundreds more that we could have used!
Enjoy, Mrs Parsons xx
Class 2 have been very busy chopping and slicing vegetables to eat as healthy snacks. They tried carrots, radishes, cucumber and peppers. Some children tried vegetables that they had never eaten before and really enjoyed them!
Happy Friday! Here’s a selection of beautiful work from across the XP Trust this week!
