We have had an amazing week working extremely hard on our phonics and reading. We loved playing āObb and Bobā game showing our enthusiasm and great knowledge of phonics. We ended up our busy week with a celebration of learning. We enjoyed dancing, singing and having fun with our friends. Well done Year 1!
Students at XP Gateshead are stepping up in a big way as Digital Leaders, diving into the world of technology to record content for their Expeditions. Teaming up with the XP Trust Comms Crew, these young tech enthusiasts are taking on the role of professional sound technicians. They’re not just learning the ropes of audio recording and editing – they’re skilfully mastering them, gaining hands-on experience that goes beyond the classroom and reaching into real-world applications.
It was so inspiring to see these students get stuck in and take charge of such an important project. Across our Trust, students are constantly proving that with enthusiasm and dedication, they can achieve anything. A massive appreciation to these Digital Leaders for going above and beyond!
A new curation of recent beautiful work has been installed in the Frenchgate Centre in Doncaster City Centre! There’s awesome work from schools across our Trust, with a key focus on our Curriculum seam ‘Protecting our Planet’ – be sure to go and see the awesome work our students have created!

Consolidating our time work this morning with a game of bingo!
Class Five got competitive with their new skills this morning! Challenging each other to play time games. Great work everyone āļø
In maths this week we are working hard on telling the time using analogue clocks. We’ve had fun making our own interactive clocks and using them to make the time. We’ve also enjoyed applying our skills whilst playing games with our friends.
Let’s see if Class 6 can show off their skills at home by telling you what time it is or working out how many minutes it is until a certain event.
Thank you for your continued support.

Today the children in EYFS wore something blue to celebrate ‘World Ocean Day’. The children revisited previous learning from our summer expedition ‘What happens where the sea meets the shore?’ They spoke about plastic pollution and how we can make a difference. Moreover, they did so with such maturity.
Yet again the children in class 1 have been saving our seas beyond the classroom. These pictures were shared by parents who informed me that Willow and Aurora have been asking to pick up rubbish in their local area. Huge well done for lending a hand and making a difference! You’re amazing!
As part of continuing summer expedition, āWhat happens where the sea meets the shore?ā Today the children of Nursery were celebrating āWorld Ocean Dayā by all wearing blue in support of keeping our worldās oceans clean and safe. They also began thinking about their own experiences of the seaside and what there is to see and do at the coast. We were extremely lucky to be able to host our expert visitor Mr Dan, who performed a wonderfully, traditional, seaside favourite; A Punch and Judy Puppet Show for us. The children had a magical time and there was lots of fun, laughter and enjoyment all around.
Today was a memory that the children will remember forever! Such a wonderful treat – Beautiful Work!
Last week Nursery explored positional language, such as; āOn topā, āBehindā, āUnderā and āIn front ofā as part of expeditionary learning, whilst exploring the Maths based text ā10 Little Piratesā by Mike Brownlow (as part of our ongoing expedition āWhat happens where the sand meets the shore?ā) The children practised counting backwards in the theme of the story and sang along to the song version of the text as a hook into where our friend Pirate Pete maybe hiding. The children used a sentence stem like; āPirate Pete is on top of the Treasure Chestā to explain his position on the pirates map. Here are a few of the examplesā¦.
āPirate Pete is on top of X marks the spotā.
āPirate Pete is on top of the big sea shellā. āPirate Pete is stood on top of the crabā.
āPirate Pete is behind the Palm treeā. āPirate Pete is hiding behind the photoā.
āPirate Pete is behind the Stingrayā. āPirate is laying behind the treasure boxā.
āPirate Pete is under the Mermaidsā. āPirate Pete is under the big sea monsterā. āPirate Pete is swimming under the mermaidsā. āPirate Pete is under the shell.ā
āPirate Pete is in front of the whale.ā āPirate Pete is front of my headā. āArghh legā. āPete is in front of the treasure chestā.
The children also took part in a pirate hunt, finding the pirates which matched the wanted posters at the front of Nursery. When they found a pirate they had to match it to the poster and say how many golden coins their reward would be.
Following a more artistic theme the children were inspired by Receptionās drawing of the ā10 Little Piratesā characters in the style of Mike Brownlow and Simon Rickerty. Therefore we followed the same drawing tutorial and created āWantedā posters of our own. The children did an amazing job.
Over the last few weeks we have been working hard to develop our art skills. We have worked on our line drawing, pattern and texture techniques as well as colour mixing and shading. We are extremely proud of our pieces of art that represent some of the landmarks in and around Doncaster.
