FOOTBALLS COMING HOME!!

We know that some of you will be up late Sunday night watching the football match, and its going to be a late night. We want the children to enjoy the evening and rather than come in tired, or not at all we’re extending our opening times! This is for Monday only!

School will be open at normal time but you will have up to 10am to arrive, after this late marks will be applied.

It is 55 years since England reached a major football final so let them watch, talk about the importance of the National Anthem, talk about pride and resilience and possibly (but hopefully not) disappointment. This is a learning opportunity in itself.

Please stay safe, but most of all enjoy the event and have fun!

Come on England! #NortonInspired

Case Study 2: Music

In Class 3 we have been using the chrome books to research our chosen instruments.

We have also been studying instruments and making sketches to accompany our fact files.

In maths this week we have been recapping telling the time and having fun playing games using our number bonds to 10 and 20.

This week we have been lucky to have visits from experts:

The inspirational Ray Matthews came to talk to us about his amazing achievements in running. He also launched his 80 – 80 – 80 challenge and we are looking forward to our sponsored walk next week to raise money for his charities.

We also had a visit from three wonderful volunteers at the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. We asked lots of questions and found out all about the important work that they do. We are going to have a ‘bring your bike’ to school day later in the term to raise as much money as we can to support the invaluable work that everyone at the Yorkshire Air Ambulance do.

We have also been Creative Chameleons in Class 1 this week:

Healthy living

As part of our expedition ‘How can I be the healthiest version of me’, we have learnt about different types of fruit, looked at their shape and texture and made careful observations when creating our fruit artwork.

Busy vehicles:

We have been working collaboratively to design and then make a boat. We explored materials to see which ones would be best to use to help our boats to float. We had lots of fun in the water tray:

We have also been busy decorating out papier mache hot air balloons. They look wonderful floating in the air in our classroom:

We have been thinking hard about all of the vehicles that we have found out about throughout this expedition so far:

And now we are ready to think about which vehicle we would choose to go on our adventure!
