This week Class 4 went on a scavenger hunt to find anything that links to geography. We discussed what geography means and looked at maps, atlases and earth globes to learn about coninents and oceans.

We’re going on a windmill hunt…
Today we decided we wanted to find the windmill that Class 1 had told us all about. We thought about our core text this week – Hansel and Gretel and realised that we could make a trail whilst we hunted for the windmill. It was cold, but we wrapped up well and set about finding the windmill. We had so much fun and cannot wait for our next adventure!

Today we wanted to be just like Hansel and Gretel…
We looked at different things that we could leave just like Hansel so that we didn’t get lost…
We thought brightly wrapped chocolates would make a fantastic trail…
We all got a chocolate…
We thought about which way we would walk…
And discussed who would go first!
We were searching for a windmill…
We began to lay our trail…
We followed as each person placed their wrapped chocolate down…
Up a hill…
All the way to the top..
We looked all around us … until…
We found it! In the distance – a windmill.
We followed our trail all the way back to the playground, collecting a chocolate each as we went!
Story time
We have enjoyed reading the story of Hansel and Gretel. We went into the woods for a special story time.
Our local area:
Special People
We have been thinking about people who are special to us and have talked about why they are special to us.
We have been busy creating gifts for some of the special people in our lives.
Gymnastics Festival
KS1 children had a wonderful afternoon On Wednestday and visited Kirk Smeaton School to take part in the gymnastics festival. It was great to see other children from our local community, work together and support one another. All children bahaved beautifully and made Norton Infant very proud!!!
We are geographers in Class 3
This week we have been considering the question ‘What is geography?’ We took part in a scavenger hunt around school to photograph clues that helped us to answer the question. We studied a variety of maps identifying their features and finally located the 7 continents and 5 oceans of the world.

Gingerbread houses artwork
Our Nursery children have been creating artwork inspired by the ‘Hansel and Gretel’ story. They have been using different sized brushes to add detail to their beautiful work. Well done everyone!
What is Geography?
Firstly the children wrote down all the things they already knew. Then we completed a scavenger hunt in school to explore our ideas further and took photos of what we saw on the ipads.
Great work class 6!
Safer Internet Day 2022
This week in Class 4
We have had a very exciting week learning about animals and exploring habitats. We loved our silent conversation when we worked in our teams to match animals to their homes. The children worked extremely hard when using ICT and nonfiction books to find facts about their animals and they shared their presentation in front of the class. This week we had lots of fun in PE and Maths lessons.
