Thank you to everyone who came to our presentation of learning this afternoon. It was amazing to see the children talking so confidently about their expedition so far.

Thank you to everyone who came to our presentation of learning this afternoon. It was amazing to see the children talking so confidently about their expedition so far.

Today Nursery hosted their very first Celebration of Learning to draw our expedition to a close of “What do stories tell us about Autumn?” Both Morning and Afternoon Nursery shared their learning through a series of photo slides and interaction. They sang songs to their parents and then added decorative touches to complete the final product with their parents, making the whole project a community affair. Our Bird Boxes look beautiful and are now ready to go their new homes. The children also shared their learning journeys, show casing all of their beautiful work so far! Well Done Nursery you did a great job!

We have been practising counting objects accurately using our counting collections library. We choose a collection, strategise and plan how we will count, count the collection and then finally record our findings. The children have really impressed me, not only with their mathematical skills but also how well they support one another and work as a team 😀
You are all stars! 🌟

In Year One we have been thinking about the past and how things were different when our older relatives were children. We looked at toys and other everyday household objects and sorted them onto a Venn diagram. This caused lots of discussions and we used words such as ‘then’, ‘now’, ‘past’, ‘present’ and ‘a long time ago’.

In our crew, this week we have been thinking of different ways to show kindness. We worked in a team to make a collage showing our ideas.

This morning Nursery have made some beautiful models. They have used their experience and imagination to create. Well Done!

On Monday we created artwork inspired by the story The Leaf Man written by Lois Ehlert. The children used natural resources found in our outdoor area to create the own leaf men, creatures or animals. Look at their beautiful work!

Nursery have been celebrating and supporting Children in Need today. The children watched a short video about Children in Need and the causes which the charity raise money to support. The children learned that the causes are sick and poorly children, children who can’t afford to go to schools in other countries, children in need of extra emotional support and families who are really struggling financially. We have helped the cause by “lending a helping hand” and donating a pound. We celebrated with themed activities and the joy of being able to come to school.

The children enjoyed bringing in their favourite books from home. They talked about their favourite part of the story. It was so nice hearing the children sharing their love of books…

Nursery this morning have been sharing their love of reading by talking about books that they like to read. Crew Leaders have routinely modelled how to hold a book correctly, highlighted key features of the book including the title, blurb, pictures and words. The Children responded by sharing with their Crew what they think the words tell us? “Words tell things”, “A story” and “facts”. We all took time out to enjoy our own stories or share one with a friend. To close the session we finished with our daily nursery rhyme.
