Let the Children March

In Class 6 we have been exploring our new core text ‘Let the Children March’. We solved the front cover picture puzzle, looking for clues and made some great predictions about what might happen in the story.

Crew Champions

We launched our brand new crew champion awards in our Community Meeting today! It was lovely to hear crew leaders and children talk about each others howls and character traits.

Well done to our first group of recipients including our Miss Tinker!

We are looking forward to next week already!

Roald Dahl Day 2023

This morning in crew we celebrated Roald Dahl Day. We checked in by sharing our favourite Roald Dahl books and characters. Next we played matching pairs with some of our favourite characters like Willy Wonka, the BFG and Mr Twit. We ended our crew session by listening to an extra from Matilda and we loved listening to Roald Dahl’s Little Red Riding Hood – it definitely wasn’t the ending we were expecting!!

Mindful Monday

We started our week with some yoga. Kate said it made her feel ready for the week, Ava said it was a little bit tiring and Henry said it made him ready to learn!

Great job everyone,

The Paper Dolls

After some of us listened to The Paper Dolls we decided we wanted to make our very own paper dolls. We talked about what kinds of things connect our crew just like the paper dolls!! I was really impressed with everyones resilience because we soon discovered making paper dolls is fiddly business!

Time Capsule

We’ve been busy in Crew Goodyer this morning creating our time capsules filled with photographs, pledges and string to show how tall we are at the start of Year 2. It will be fun to see how much we have all grown when we open them up at the end of the year!

Crew Challenge ⛓

This morning we had the challenge of making the longest paper chain in our crews. We could only use two pieces of poster paper, tape and scissors. We had to work really hard to communicate and work together. We all did a great job and surprisingly all ended up with the same length paper chain!

We are looking forward to our crew quiz tomorrow – I wonder who will win – Crew Tinker, Crew Goodyer or Crew Thurman?

Class 6 Final Word Presentations

What a wonderful week of ‘Final Words’ we have had!
I would just like to say a huge thank you to everybody who could make it this week to support the children. Class 6 really did themselves proud – they all presented so confidently and it was clear to see how much they all enjoyed the experience.
Well done everybody, you are all superstars!

Presentation of Learning

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the year two presentation of learning this afternoon. I was so proud of the children for leading the whole presentation themselves and to hear them so clearly articulate their learning was fantastic.

If you scroll down I have linked in the glossary and task if you would like the children to share their learning with other special people at home.

Don’t forget our recipe books and shopping products are available via parent pay to order.

We hope you enjoyed it too.
