We have started our first case study ‘How can I help my body to grow?’ We had some expert visitors in today that told us all about why we have teeth, how we can keep our teeth healthy and they also gave us some top brushing tips too 😁👍
Sending a big thank you to Kirsty and Ellie, a dentist and dental nurse for taking the time to come into our school. The children have loved it!
Class 1 enjoyed playing in the ice today. We did some mark making using warm water and brushes. The children practiced writing some of the letters they have been learning and even wrote their names 🥰❄
We’ve enjoyed a special performance of ‘Mouse and Bear’ from the concerteenies. The children enjoyed joining in with the catchy songs 🎵 😊
We’ve also had a great time building dens with Chris this week. The children worked so well as a team and they created some amazing dens. Their happy faces brightened our day…
Class 1 have worked hard this week and have been enjoying all areas of provision. You all make us very proud 👏 xx
Miss Tunney and I have had the most lovely day! We wanted to see and hear about all the amazing learning going on across our campus, so rather than sit in our office flicking through work, we invited the owners of the exercise books to share their work instead.
We have had children in our early years reciting We’re Going on a Bear Hunt with actions, students in key stage one sharing some fantastic knowledge about castles and how their expert visitor helped them towards answering their guiding question, lower key stage two being so enthusiastic about their core text, The Lion and the Unicorn and finally year five and six explaining how clear and specific critique has helped them to improve their work into versions they are incredibly proud of.
To all of those children who shared their learning with us, thank you. It was a real privilege to hear about your learning so far this year. You all spoke confidently and showed real enthusiasm for your expeditions and the beautiful work you are producing.
We had fun going on our bear hunt! You’ll be pleased to know we found a cute cuddly teddy bear at the end 😊We made some natural porridge in the woods. We created some amazing recipes 😋 We had fun playing games and going on a scavenger hunt.We made some happy memories together ❤
It was fantastic to see so many parents at the workshops on phonics yesterday. We hope you found the session informative and a useful insight into how we teach children to read in school.
All parents of children in Reception and Year 1 have been sent an email today containing the information shared at the workshop. The powerpoint presentation gives more information about what phonics is, how we teach phonics lessons in school and the Year 1 phonics screening check. It also shares helpful tips to support parents in reading with their child at home.
The presentation contains this link https://parents.fft.org.uk/ to the FFT Success for All Parent Portal. Here you will find further helpful information, videos demonstrating how to pronounce all phonemes and be able to access the Shared Reader e-library of books that children use in their phonics lessons every day. The school’s passcode to enter the portal is vyd5iy.
We also included in the email some helpful handouts that support answering some frequently asked questions by parents. We hope you will find the sound cards, alphabet strip and list of alliterative and formation phrases useful at home.
If you have any other questions or queries, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s teacher.
