Making Someone Smile at Christmas 🎄EYFS Final Product…

This term the EYFS children completed an expedition titled ‘Exploring Our World’. We were hooked into our learning with a visit from an expert and his feathery friends. This piqued an interest in wild birds and their habitats. The children have worked together to assemble and decorate bird boxes that are placed around our school and community.

We decided that we were going to give the residents at The Laurels Care Home some of the bird boxes that we made. We wanted to enhance their garden area and thought they would enjoy watching the local wildlife from their windows. Some of our Year Two children kindly delivered them for us and they are now sitting under their Christmas tree. We hope that it brings a smile to their faces.

While the year two children were there, we sang some Christmas songs for the residents too. It was truly a beautiful, heart warming moment that both the children and residents enjoyed.

We would like to wish all the staff and residents at The Laurels a very Merry Christmas and we hope to see you all again very soon 🎄 xx

A Truly Magical Time of the Year…

We were super excited this morning to take part in our very special assembly. Mr West visited our school again and this time he taught us about the Christmas celebrations. We enjoyed acting out the Christmas story, singing Christmas songs and discussing the meaning of Christmas. We loved learning about this special festival and we are looking forward to exploring it further in our RE lessons. Thank you Mr West for making this time of year even more magical for our school!

Our week in class 1 so far…

We have been working hard in our phonics sessions, practising the formation of our letters and reading sentences. Super stars 🌟

We have strategised in our counting collections library, using 100 squares and number tracks to help us count how many objects we have altogether…

We have been making marks in the ice, discussing and noticing the changes that we see…

We have put up our class Christmas tree 🎄 It was a team effort! 🥰😊 I think you will all agree it looks dazzling 👍

Class 1- We are mathematicians 🔢🌟

We have been practising counting objects accurately using our counting collections library. We choose a collection, strategise and plan how we will count, count the collection and then finally record our findings. The children have really impressed me, not only with their mathematical skills but also how well they support one another and work as a team 😀

You are all stars! 🌟

Tranquil Tuesday Reading Crew 📚

The children enjoyed bringing in their favourite books from home. They talked about their favourite part of the story. It was so nice hearing the children sharing their love of books…

Diwali Fun 🎆🎇✨

This week we have been learning about Diwali. The children have listened to the story of Rama and Sita, made clay candle holders and took part in a Rangoli colouring competition. All the children took part in tasting some festival food such as naan bread, poppadoms and mango chutney. The poppadoms went down a treat with the children!

Happy Diwali! 😊🎆

We’re going on pumpkin hunt… 🎃

The children had great fun hunting for pumpkins this morning. We managed to find them all and each received a sweet treat 😊

We would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Jackson for organising this 👏

World Mental Health Day in Reception

Today is World Mental Health Day, so in our crew sessions we discussed why it is important to talk about how we are feeling and what we can do to help ourselves feel good.

We decided to take our crew session outside as the sunshine and fresh air can help to us to feel happy. We listened to one another share how we were feeling this morning and then took part in some fun activities together. The children enjoyed collecting leaves and creating their own leaf rubbings using paper and wax crayons or using hole punches to cut out different shapes. What a lovely start to the day!
